The Eleventh Arab Structural Engineering Conference at KFUPM

Under the patronage of the HRH Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, KFUPM hosts The 11th Arab Structural Engineering Conference ( ASEC) during the period from 25 to 27 October 2009.

The main objective of the Arab Structural Engineering Conference (ASEC) is to provide a forum for the structural engineering researchers and engineers to discuss their recent research results and applications in the area of structural engineering. Dr. Sahel N. Abduljauwad, chairman, organizing committee said.

Organizing an international conference of this caliber requires the dedication and hard work of many individuals. He added.

Then he thanked all participants, technical committee members, reviewers, session chairs, steering and organizing committees and exhibited special thanks to Civil Engineering Department for their leadership role in this conference. Furthermore, he thanked the main sponsors of the event, in particular, Saudi Aramco, The Islamic Development Bank, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), The Eastern Province Cement Company , and al Iqtisadiah Newspaper.
Followed that a welcoming message from Dr Husain J. Al-Gahtani, Chairman of Civil Engineering Department whom describe this conference as an opportunity for academicians, researchers, practicing engineers and policy makers to meet and discuss the recent advances and developments in structures-related areas, and to share ideas on current and future challenges facing the Arab world in responding to the rapid growth of construction in the region.

Dr Al-Gahtani expressed his thanks to His Excellency Dr. Khaled Bin Saleh al-Sultan for his continuous follow-up and valuable guidance throughout the planning stages of the conference.
