In a noticeable move of more than 70 ranks from last year, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) has been ranked in the 266^th position by the Times Higher Education-QS (THE-QS) World University Rankings (WUR) released last week. In the Technology Subject Ranking of THE-QS, KFUPM came in the 209^th position universally.

THE-QS WUR rankings are compiled based in the following six distinct indicators:

* Academic Peer Review (40%)

* Faculty Student Ratio (20%)

* Citations per Faculty (20%)

*  Employer Review (10%)

* International Faculty (5%)

* International Students (5%)

Dr. Khaled S. Al-Sultan, Rector of KFUPM, announced that the recurring achievements of the Saudi universities on the international arena are reflections of the superior support and attention that the higher education establishment has been receiving from the Government. The wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, and the Second Deputy Premier Prince Nayef Bin Abdulaziz, and their determination to lead Saudi Arabia into a brilliant age of education, advancement and prosperity are yielding amazing results, Al-Sultan commented.

The Rector also thanked H.E. Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education, and the Ministry for the valuable support and guidance that they render to KFUPM and other universities. Al-Sultan appreciated the efforts of all KFUPM faculty, students and staff; and expressed hope that all the community of the University would continue working towards achieving the mission of KFUPM. Rankings and evaluations are secondary outcomes when compared to the noble objectives of the University represented in providing the highest levels of education, research and community service, Al-Sultan concluded.
